Neurosurgeon and Back Update
Neurosurgery was able to fit me into a cancelletation today so I got to speak with the way earlier than my original appointment.
I really liked the doctor. We looked over my MRIs and since the cervical nerve impingement isn't affecting my arms we don't need to do surgery on it so we're going to focus on my lumbar spine instead which is the biggest issue anyway.
They're ordering a repeat lumbar MRI since the last one was over a year ago and if that is the same or worse we'll talk about a small surgery to release the nerve at L4-L5 where it's the worst and travels down my butt, hip and leg.
We also need to figure out if the worst pain is coming from the issue with the spine or the issue with the hip so after the MRI we'll do a face to face meeting and see if surgery is up next. If it is she said it's like a 1 hour surgery and you don't need to stay overnight.
But she did warn she can't guarantee that the pain will go away or that my back will stop going out because of the spine and disc degeneration and osteoarthritis in there.
Still, it's an option and I'm quickly running out of those so I'm happy with this plan.
